It offers an amazing trek through some pretty dramatic landscapes and historic pathways. The hike starts in the village of Imbros, which is 780 metres up, and goes down through a series of narrow passages and towering limestone walls, some of which are 300 metres high.

As you follow the trail, you’ll be blown away by the incredible rock formations and unique flora and fauna, including the chance to spot rare birds like the griffon vulture. The gorge has a fascinating history. It was used as a vital escape route for Allied troops during World War II, which adds a poignant layer to its natural beauty.

The narrowest part of the gorge is just 1.6 metres wide, which makes it a really thrilling and intimate experience with nature. As you near the end of the hike, the gorge opens up to reveal stunning views of the Libyan Sea. The path leads to the quaint village of Komitades, where you can relax and enjoy traditional Cretan cuisine at local taverns.
